How did a glitch hop dance beat with a classical violinist end up on a hip hop mixtape?
Well may you ask, but I warn you, it is a long long story... make a coffee in fact.
In the early 2000's I was a conservative horse farmer building up a horse breeding business... in a decade of drought... but that's another story.
I befriended a skydiver on the internet, as you do, and long story short, he lived with me on the farm for 2 years. Of the many impacts he had on my conservatism there were 2 key ones. He turned my commercial radio to triple j - and it never went back.
He worked in the industry which found me spending a lot of time at drop zones and the night life... can be summarised in one word - raves. I developed a visceral attachment to trance and dance music - and I never lost it. (Kind of problematic at my age, 12 years on...)
I can't remember how I initially discovered Dysphemic's music, a producer of dubstep & glitch hop, he also makes music with his partner, a classically trained violinist... I think the track that converted me was something about a dinosaur.
I thought it would be awesome to include some of this music on our mixtape, so I contacted them and asked would they specifically create a beat for this project, suitable to rap over. They did. You can hear the beat itself here, it's pretty cool :)

However no rappers in the project selected it. (I don't think they were brave enough :)
4 weeks before the project deadline I had nobody's name against this beat. So I offered it up publicly and said the best rap I'm given for this, will earn a spot on the project's mixtape.
The rest is history. I received a couple of submissions, and what you hear here is what MC Ambiguous' came up with.
I really hope you enjoy this track. Not only does it have unique music behind it, Ambiguous gives us an important message about knowing that we are strong inside, and picking ourselves up again even if we get put down.
Hats off to you Dys, Eliza and Ambiguous :)
