I first came across Hendo in late 2011 when I was looking locally for guinea pigs for an idea that I had to bring my business background together with my music passion.
He had a track on you-tube called 'Time Machine', that talked about wanting to go back to the days when life was simple, every kid you met was your mate, and everything you did was ok. Written when he was 16 it contained such simple and profound sentiments that it resonated deeply with me. (You can see it here:

I also loved his voice, it reminded me of a guy called Mike Skinner, from The Streets, an English garage hip hop project whose music I loved around 2002, before I even knew the genre was called hip hop.
Our initial communications over a few months were spasmodic, but once he agreed to join the project he picked his beat, and was quickly sharing versions of his draft lyrics with me.
The beat was by Renz, a cruisy little piano melody that supported the song beautifully.
Parent taxi Jo and Gavin brought Hendo up from Wangaratta and we recorded his track mid February 2012. It was my first time in a recording studio and also Hendo's. We were stoked with what we came away with.
We hope you like 'All you need to do is talk'... it carries a really important message about reaching out when we're not coping. And if we don't feel comfortable talking to those we know, to contact an anonymous help line.

I kinda think that suicide is a way of giving up on life when you still have the chance to live.
He would wake up every morning all battered and bruised,
But still had a smile on his face trying to hide the pain,
And if anyone asked he would reply with I'm fine I'm okay,
And other people would say that he's crazy and insane,
But they didn't know what was going on in his brain,
Every night he remembers getting bashed from him own family from his own Dad,
Has to deal with kids at school bragging about the great parents that they have.
He would sit there trying to hold back his tears picturing his Dad in a drunken rage,
Throwing fists at his kid like it was just a game,
But the boy was scared and took it and done whatever his Dad says,
Tried everything he could just so he didn't get bashed again,
He has to tell the same lies of fake happiness every day,
Think of the stress and pressure on your life it must play.
He never talked to no one he never thought it would help.
He thought he was living a life so similar to hell,
He was scared to talk and didn't think anything could help,
Suffering severe depression but he kept to himself,
He thought he was stuck in a world alone,
There were always friends there but the help was never shown,
He could of made it out but now he'll never know.
He gave up on life by hanging from a rope, the boy just couldn't cope.

And if you're feeling down all you need to do is talk,
When you're feeling low we can climb back up,
Don't say goodbye coz your times not up.
All it takes is to let out your emotions,
Before depression takes a hold and starts to rip you open,
